Every child matters at the Smart Centre and our school is committed to every child receiving the best education and ensuring that all pupils reach their full potential.
Pupils will learn best in a safe and calm environment that is free from disruption and in which education is the primary focus. Celebrating success is an important way of the SMART Centre creating a positive ethos around achievement. Our policy and practice is guided by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) principles of equality, dignity, respect, non-discrimination and participation.
Leadership of the school, knowledge and understanding of children’s rights, ethos and relationships and the empowerment of children form the foundation of the policy and practice.
Our overall objective is aimed at achieving positive relationships and well-being, leading to better learning and behaviour, social and emotional aspect of learning and improved academic standards.
At the SMART Centre everyone has the right to be treated equally regardless of gender, race, culture, belief, sexual orientation or exceptional need.
The school respects and embraces individuality. All members of the school community have a right to be equally valued and respected. We also extend this respect to all visitors and members of the wider community of which we are a part.
